The word ‘future’ conjures many images, from star trek to next week. We have things we want to accomplish and try, places to go, sights to see… everyone has plans and dreams. We too have goals, individually and as a couple.
But the future is never certain and unexpected things happen all the time. Even when we plan around what we think God has said, it doesn’t always work out the way we thought.
A person can steer a ship but if it’s not moving it won’t go anywhere! No matter how hard you try or what direction you want to go in, if you’re not moving you won’t go anywhere. In the same way, if we don’t take physical steps God can’t direct us if we drift off course or if the season changes. Don’t be afraid for His correction – if you’re moving and want to please Him everything will be ok! Just keep listening.
The following things are a starting point for us to work towards over the next 5-10 years. We don’t know what it will look like but we will share it with you along the way!
YWAM: We are definitely planning to stay involved with YWAM either in Montana or other locations/ministries around the world. Leading the School of Worship at YWAM Montana is a huge responsibility and privilege. We plan on giving the reigns over to someone else in the next couple of years and at that time we may just move departments and continue to be challenged in other areas, or we may move on from YWAM Montana.
Teaching on worship & the bible: We both have a desire to teach. Obviously, knowing the bible is fundamental to our faith, and we have been able to put more emphasis on the bible int he School of Worship. Theron has a passion to teach on Worship and impart the knowledge he’s learned while being a part of the School of Worship. We have both completed the School of Biblical Studies which is a great starting point to learning how to teach the bible effectively. There are many opportunities through YWAM Montana to teach both in the USA and abroad. Currently we are leading the School of Worship department so this is a good place to start!!
Family: Vienna is a HUGE blessing and we can’t imagine our lives without her. She turns 2 in Sept 2012 and at that time we plan on thinking about trying for #2!
Outreaches: We both have a strong desire to get out of Montana and do more outreaches overseas. YWAM Montana’s missionary contacts around the world always have needs for people to serve and teach. Since we’ve been married we’ve been to Spain, Hungary, Taiwan (Theron) and Thailand for ministry.
Language: We both want to learn another language if God calls us overseas long term!
Art & Design: Nicola has a strong art and design background through college and various creative projects she’s worked on and would love to explore this in more detail and see if God wants to use her skills somehow. She is super crafty and loves all things creative.
